WHEAT STRAW

Wheat straw is the "staple" of our annual straw harvest. Depending upon growing conditions straw will vary in quality and type. Our long straw is typically swathed after grain harvest and is very clean and free of any chaff. We also bale straw left in windrows by the combine. This straw will tend to contain more chaff and will be shorter in length but tends to be somewhat brighter in color. Most straw can be certified weed free to accommodate our customers in the reseeding industry.

BEAN STRAW

Bean straw is the aftermath left following harvest of dry edible bean crops such as kidney or pinto beans. It is generally baled from a combined windrow. It makes a great stock cow feed and rarely is anything wasted when they are fed bean straw. It is not used as bedding because it will get eaten! It can also be ground and mixed with alfalfa to make a great high protein, high fiber feed.

MILLET STRAW

Millet straw is baled following the annual grain harvest used for bird seed. This straw will tend to contain more chaff and will be shorter in length. Because of its composition it is usually not used as bedding but does make a good straw for mixing in rations or feeding to stock cows.

CORNSTALK HAY

Cornstalks are baled following corn harvest in the fall. Stalks are flailed and windrowed and not raked. This tends to make a very clean product. Cornstalks are used for bedding and feed and some farms like to make cheap temporary bunkers and windrows out of the bales.
